Network Configuration Management

OpManager Plus provides configuration and compliance management (NCCCM) solution for switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices. It helps automate and take total control of the entire lifecycle of device configuration management. Some key features include

Scheduling and automating configuration backup

Configuration backup - ManageEngine OpManager Plus

The network configuration management module in OpManager Plus allows the admin to select individual devices to be scheduled for configuration backup and also, bulk schedule up-to 250 devices per schedule. The configuration backup can be scheduled hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and also for once. This gives the admin the flexibility of scheduling configuration backup after working hours when the task will not clog the bandwidth. Automated configuration backup enables change detection and triggers configuration backup. OpManager Plus detects the changes through the syslog messages received from the devices.

Configuration change tracking

Configuration change tracking - ManageEngine OpManager Plus

Real-time tracking comes in handy for administrators to keep track of the changes being made and to detect any unauthorized changes. By enabling this in OpManager Plus, administrators can

  • Capture configuration as and when changes happen
  • Get real-time notifications on change detection
  • Find information on who carried out the change and from where (the IP address)
  • Detect unauthorized changes in real-time

User activity tracking

User activity tracking - ManageEngine OpManager Plus

Users perform various operations on device configuration such as backing up the configuration, uploading configuration to the device, enabling real-time change detection etc., When something goes wrong due to a faulty configuration change or when a security breach occurs, it is important to track user actions to ensure accountability in the organization. To ensure this, it is essential to record the information on who invoked what operation, on what device, at what time and the result of the operation. This is done by the Audit feature in the network configuration module of OpManager Plus and this is termed as "Device Operation Audit".

Compliance Monitoring

The network configuration management module in OpManager Plus helps administrators to define and enforce standards. The standards could be anything - ensuring the presence or absence of certain strings, commands or values. OpManager Plus will scan the configuration for compliance to the rules/ policy defined and report violations. Some of the default policies include PCI, SOX, HIPAA, and Cisco IOS. You can also create own policies from scratch. Reports on policy compliance and violations are also generated.

Firmware vulnerability management

The network configuration management module is just one of the many functionalities that make up OpManager Plus as a powerful observability solution. With full observability at your disposal, the tedious processes of identifying and addressing potential firmware security vulnerabilities in your network devices is made easier. OpManager Plus' NCM module also functions as a firmware vulnerability scanner, following the guidelines of NIST vulnerability management (National Institute of Standards and Technology). By retrieving firmware vulnerability data and correlating it with the network devices currently under management in your infrastructure, Network Configuration Manager ensures comprehensive protection against potential threats. With this module, you can effectively detect firmware vulnerabilities and take prompt action to mitigate risks and enhance the security of your network devices.
