The importance of role-based access control

Every organization has sensitive resources and it's important to limit access to them.

Role-based access control (RBAC) solutions use a security concept, the principle of least privilege, to enforce granular control in your organization.

AD360, an RBAC solution, allows you to create custom help desk roles to grant granular access to users without affecting their permissions in the native tool. Create roles and assign them to help desk technicians, human resource personnel, and managers to let them handle administrative tasks like resetting passwords, unlocking users, and assigning licenses without involving an IT admin in the process.

Here's why you'll need AD360 to enforce RBAC

  • Reduce admin workload
  • Create custom roles
  • Audit help desk activities

Reduce admin workload

  • Delegate day-to-day tasks to non-administrative users with the help of built-in help desk roles to perform administrative tasks.
  • Delegate tasks to users with their scope limited to a specific site, tenant, domain, OU, or group, and restrict the activities of technicians to the assigned scope.
  • Reduce admin duties in user life cycle management and save time by automatically granting permissions to users based on the roles assigned to them when they join or move within the organization.

Create custom roles

  • Create unlimited custom roles for delegation based on the required tasks and assign them to users.
  • Empower users to perform any combination of administrative tasks with custom roles.
  • Update or delete a custom role when needed. For example, if you want the Create Users custom role to be able to modify users, just add the Modify Users permission to the same role.

Audit help desk activities

  • Get audit reports that track the changes enacted by technicians, along with the time and status of each operation.
  • Track all the changes made to a help desk role or technician with detailed audit reports.
  • Learn who performed what action on which technician or role, and the time at which it was performed.

Custom roles
1

Create a new user role from scratch by selecting the desired permissions from the list of more than 100 operations across different modules.
